are you an internet/ pop culture writer who wants to be published?
lending culture vulture out to writers who want a platform 𓆩♡𓆪
My ANGELS!!!
Over the past five years or so of running Shit You Should Care About, I’ve realised that my favourite part of this whole thing is getting to find/ platform/ publish writers that have something to say!
This newsletter, where I do exactly that, now has 20k subscribers, and for the past year I’ve been so proud to have put some of my time towards editing and publishing you.
Some of my faves recently:
i want to be just like every other girl by
joy is not meant to be a crumb! by
on keeping women skinny so they don't get too powerful by
"all women are catfishes" and the fucked up norms of online body shaming by
am i unconfident or am i just thinking about myself too much? by
The question I get asked the most (espesh from budding young writers is) ‘how do I get started?’ or ‘how do I get my voice out there?’ and honestly - especially with the state of journalism right now - it’s HARD!
So let me help 𓆩♡𓆪
If you’re a pop culture/ internet writer and you feel like you’ve got something to say that fits with our culture vulture vibe, send me a completed draft (or if you’ve previously published it on your own substack/ other platform that’s fine too!) and I’ll see what I can do.
I’ve also opened up paid subscriptions - not because I will be putting anything behind a paywall (don’t worry) but to cover the time I assume I’m going to spend editing/ publishing pieces here and growing this audience so that there are more eyes on your work!
If you’re interested in being published, reply to this email with a completed draft, and if I like it, I’ll publish it!
Great work here. Keep it up.
This is amazing!!! I’ve had an idea i’ve been thinking about and excited to try draft/pitch it!!
