what do you MEAN we have 10,000 subscribers???!!!

Do you know why I started culture vulture??? Because everywhere I went I was meeting young people who had the best ideas, the purest hearts, and the need for a place to put ALL THEIR THOUGHTS (sometimes your diary isn’t enough.)

With every person I met or email I received I was like:

omg, why can’t I publish you ALL???

How dare a lack of an audience stand in the way of you sharing your work!!!!

So, I started this little substack, put a call out to any young pop culture/ internet writers (which then turned into basically anyone with something to say) and decided that in my spare time (of which there is very little - I just wrote a whole ass BOOK remember) I would publish as many of you as I can.

The response to this call out absolutely floored me. I have hundreds and hundreds of you in my inbox with things to say that I could never imagine, perspectives I could never have lived, and turns of phrase that I could NEVER have thought of, and getting to publish as many of you as I can has been the greatest privilege of running Shit You Should Care About so far, seriously.

So I want to be a bit soppy and say the biggest thank you to everyone who reads, subscribes, likes, comments, and WRITES for this cute little publication - I know it’s chaotic, and sometimes your drafts stay unread for MONTHS, but just know that I love you, and I love that together we’ve built somewhere for your words and feelings to live.
