this reminds me of something a writer on wattpad once wrote in a comment,, that the camera is the most human invention ever; the desire 2 hold on to a moment.
I love this piece so much 🥲 I've started printing out my favourite photos and making photo albums, so that I can still treasure my photos but without having the pressure to perform on social media as much :)
as someone with aphantasia (no visual memory), i really cherish photos of my friends and family and also just random things i've done, since i can't re-examine the look of it any other way. of course i still remember the past, but it really helps me to have the visual to look back on. shout out to my mom who made us pose for family photos in front of the stairs for any occasion, my sister and i refused to smile but now i get it.
Don't remember the last time I related to a piece so so much 🥹 thank you for this gorgeous and gentle change of perspective on the camera roll and our shared obsession of documenting our life through photos. At the age of 29 I have found myself to be someone who mainly remembers and learns things on a visual basis, so this makes total sense.

Me too! I don’t use Instagram anymore, so I now do a physical album of my highlights from the year
I really want to get a digital photo frame for this very reason!! 📸
